Getting to Know The Tomb

What services do you offer at The Tomb Studio?
We pretty much cover all the major audio services you might need - tracking (recording your vocals or instruments in our studio), mixing, mastering, music production like custom beats, voiceover recording, and podcast recording with a full dual-camera video setup. We also offer instructional classes in music production, studio rentals for artists who want to work independently, and off-site services like mixing, mastering, and custom beats for clients who can't come in person. Whether you want to lay down a hip-hop verse, belt out an R&B chorus, narrate a commercial, or launch a podcast - we've got you covered.
What genres of music do you specialize in?
Our bread and butter is Hip-Hop and R&B. That's the core of our local scene and what we work on every day. That said, we're not limited to those genres at all - we can record anything from pop to gospel to rock. The key is that we focus on making your unique sound shine. We also do voiceovers and podcasts, so our expertise isn't just for music; it's for quality audio in general.
Why is it called "The Tomb Studio"? Is it spooky in there?
Despite the name, we promise there's nothing scary about our studio - except maybe how scary good your tracks will sound when we're done. Think of it more like a creative vault where you can bury yourself in your work and resurrect killer tracks. The studio's atmosphere is very welcoming and alive: dim ambient lighting, comfortable setting, more cozy than creepy. The name just sounds cool and reflects that we're a place where legendary tracks are laid to rest (on the record) until they're ready to be released to the world.
What kind of equipment and software do you use?

We've got a state-of-the-art setup. Here's the rundown:

  • Microphone: Neumann TLM 103 - one of the most iconic mics in hip-hop/R&B.
  • Interface/Preamps: Universal Audio Apollo x6 paired with an Apollo Twin Duo - real-time effects like Antares Auto-Tune before the sound even hits the DAW.
  • Software (DAWs): Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, and more.
  • Plugins: Waves Mercury bundle (200+ plugins), Universal Audio UAD Ultimate suite, Soundtoys 5, and Antares Auto-Tune.

Will we Auto-Tune you? Only if you want us to. Our goal is to make you sound like the best version of you.

I've never recorded in a studio before. How should I prepare?

No worries - we work with beginners and pros alike. Here are some tips:

  • Practice your material: Know your lyrics or performance inside-out so you can deliver confidently.
  • Have your stuff ready: Bring instrumentals on a USB drive, email them to us, AirDrop them, or send a link. We can pull beats from YouTube or SoundCloud too.
  • Take care of your voice/body: Get a good night's sleep, stay hydrated, and avoid cold drinks or dairy right before singing.
  • Arrive ready to vibe: We'll handle the technical setup. Share any reference tracks so we know the sound you're going for.

Still not sure if you're ready? We offer free 30-minute consultations - by phone (once a month) or in-person (once every three months). Book one through our website, no commitment required.

Can I bring a friend or two with me to the session?
Yes! You're welcome to bring people for support and honest feedback. Our policy allows up to 10 people total in the studio at a time. More people doesn't always mean better sessions - a couple of close buddies who understand studio etiquette is usually the sweet spot. If you need more than 10 for a special project, just reach out ahead of time and we can discuss it.
What about beats and instrumentals?
You've got two options. If you already have a beat you love, bring it - WAV or high-quality MP3 preferred. You can email it, bring a USB drive, AirDrop it, or send a download link from YouTube/SoundCloud. Don't have a beat? Our in-house producers can create a custom beat from scratch tailored to your style. Check out our services page for current beat production pricing.
I'm not a musician. Can I record voiceovers or a podcast at your studio?
Absolutely! We're fully equipped for voiceover recordings, podcasts, audiobooks, and more. Our studio is quiet and acoustically treated to capture voice recordings with crystal clarity. For podcasters, we offer a full audio and video recording setup with a dual-camera system - you walk away with a polished audio episode and video content ready for YouTube or social media.

Coming to The Tomb

How do I book a session at The Tomb Studio?
All bookings are done through our online booking system on our website - just choose your service and available time slot. You can also call or text us at (330) 776-5523 if you have questions before booking. All sessions are by appointment only (no walk-ins). Once you've booked and paid your deposit, your session is locked in. Creating an account unlocks extra perks: booking history, reschedule management, gift card balance tracking, and automatic Star Artist tracking.
How much does it cost to record at The Tomb Studio?
Rates vary depending on the service type, session length, and engineer. You can find our full, up-to-date pricing on our booking and services pages. We offer everything from hourly recording sessions to flat-rate mixing, mastering, and custom beat production. We'll always make sure you know exactly what your session will cost before we get started.
How does payment work? Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, we require a payment or deposit to secure your session. When you book online, you'll pay either a deposit or the full amount upfront through Stripe or PayPal.

If you chose to pay just the deposit, the remaining balance is due before the start of your session. For the remaining balance, we accept cash, CashApp, Apple Pay, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, and Stripe.

Want to show some extra love? You can add a tip during checkout when you pay in full. 100% of your tip goes directly to the engineer - the studio doesn't take a cut.

When can I come in? Do you do walk-ins?
We do not accept walk-ins. All sessions are by appointment only. Our schedule is flexible to fit artists' needs - we run sessions by appointment any day of the week. Night owl who wants a late-night session? We can often make that happen. For same-day sessions, check our online booking for open slots or call/text (330) 776-5523.
What should I know about session timing?

The clock starts at your scheduled time whether you're in the booth or not. Late arrivals do not extend your session. Setup, breakdown, and file transfer time are all included in your booked time.

Need more time? If nobody's booked right after you, you can extend your session in 30-minute increments - just ask your engineer and they'll check availability.

Planning a marathon session? If you're going for 8 hours or more, a mandatory 1-hour unpaid break is built in. You're only charged for actual recording time, so a 12-hour booking means 11 paid hours plus a break.

What's your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Cancellations: Give us at least 48 hours notice before your scheduled start time and you'll receive a full refund of your deposit or payment. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the session will result in forfeiture of your deposit. If you paid in full, the remaining balance after the deposit is deducted will be issued as studio credit.

Rescheduling: You can reschedule for free with at least 24 hours notice, but each booking only allows a maximum of two (2) reschedules. If you no-show on your second scheduled session, you will not receive a refund.

Submit requests through your dashboard on our website or by calling/texting (330) 776-5523.

Will I get a copy of my song/recording after the session?

Of course! It's your music. After a recording session, we can bounce you a rough mix or reference MP3 at the end of the session so you can listen back at home. All mixing and mastering is done during your booked session time - if you leave with a rough mix and want a polished final version, you'll need to book another session.

Once your mix and/or master is done, we'll deliver final high-quality files through Tomb Cloud (our secure file platform), with Google Drive as a backup.

Need stems? If time permits during your session, your engineer can bounce them out at no extra charge. We also offer stems as a separate off-site service.

Important: We hold your session files for a minimum of 12 months. After that, file availability is not guaranteed. Download and back up your files as soon as they're available.

Do I own the rights to my music if I record at The Tomb Studio?
Yes! Your vocals and performances are 100% yours. We don't take any ownership or royalties for the songs recorded here. If your project uses instrumentals created by one of our studio-affiliated engineers or producers, ownership of those instrumentals stays with the creator unless a separate agreement is made. Purchasing a beat grants you a license to use it as agreed - always make sure you're clear on the terms.
Can I rent the studio without an engineer?
Yep! Studio rentals give you access to our room and gear to do your thing - recording, mixing, mastering, beat production, artist development, whatever your creative process needs. A studio associate will be on-site during your rental. Rentals are strictly for music-related work. You're responsible for the equipment during your rental - any damage caused by misuse is on you.
How do your off-site services work?

Order the service through our website, fill out the submission form (file link, reference tracks, notes on the vibe), pay upfront, and your engineer gets to work. Send your stems as WAV files via Google Drive, Dropbox, or any file-sharing service.

We offer three turnaround speeds: Standard (5–7 business days), Rush (2–3 business days at 1.5x the base price), and Immediate (24 hours at 2.5x the base price).

Mixes, masters, and custom beats include two free revisions. Alternative mixes and stems are delivered as-is with no revisions. Everything gets delivered through Tomb Cloud.

Do you offer any discounts or promotions?
We sure do! We send out discount codes via email to our subscribers from time to time - sign up on our website so you don't miss out. Keep an eye on our social media pages for flash sales and surprise promotions. Discounts can't be stacked with other discounts, and codes can't be applied retroactively to completed bookings.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes! We offer two tiers: Standard Gift Cards (good for 30 days) and Premium Gift Cards (valid for 90 days with bonus credit on top). Gift cards work like universal studio currency - you can use them for recording sessions, classes, studio rentals, voiceover, podcast, off-site services (mixing, mastering, beats, stems, alt mixes), and even merch. Gift cards can be refunded within 48 hours if you haven't used them. After that, they're non-refundable. You can't buy a gift card with another gift card.
What is the Star Artist program?

The Star Artist program recognizes our most active and dedicated artists every month across six award categories:

  • Most Hours Booked
  • Most Sessions Booked
  • Honorable Mention
  • Most Growth on Spotify
  • Top Supporter (most spent on off-site services)
  • Most Dedicated (most off-site orders)

Each award earns you one free studio hour for recording sessions, classes, or studio rentals. Free hours must be used before the end of the month they're awarded and can't be stacked with other discounts.

Winners are featured on our Star Artist leaderboard on the website for the whole month - your name, photo, and stats up for all to see.

Do you live stream studio sessions?
We do! But only if you want us to. Live streaming is 100% opt-in - we'll never go live without your explicit consent. If you'd like your session broadcast, opt in through your booking on our website (the only way to enable it). When you opt in, your session might go out on YouTube, Instagram, X, Twitch, Kick, Rumble, Facebook, TikTok, and more. Live stream recordings belong to The Tomb Studio, but you're absolutely welcome to download and repost them for your own promo. To have a stream taken down, email contact@thetombstudio.com.
